Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that the admission of Palestine as a member of the United Nations is a crucial step to correct longstanding historical injustices. Wang made this statement during a press conference alongside Justin Tkatchenko, the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea.
Wang emphasized the importance of the UN fulfilling its role in responding to global challenges. He also stressed the responsibility of the UN Security Council in maintaining world peace and security.
Furthermore, the international community expresses deep dissatisfaction and disappointment towards the United States for its unilateral veto in rejecting Palestinian full membership in the United Nations.
Wang reiterated that granting immediate full membership to Palestine in the United Nations is a crucial step towards rectifying longstanding historical injustices. He emphasized that this action represents an international obligation that every member state of the UN must fulfill.
However, the United States once again openly opposes international morality and the international community, leaving another highly disrespectful mark in history, stated the Chinese foreign minister.
Full membership in the UN for Palestine should not arise as a result of Israel-Palestine negotiations, but as an equal prerequisite granted to Palestine for negotiations, which plays a crucial role in achieving a two-state solution, explained Wang.
This does not mean that the current conditions do not allow Palestine to become a full member state of the UN, but justice is yet to be realized, said Wang, while stating that the US should act to demonstrate its support for the two-state solution.
